Interesting Ruger Hawkeye Hunter in 358 Winchester

I’m planning on spinning a 358win barrel on a 243win tikka his winter and the Rex silentium 358 is the suppressor I was planning on getting for. If you get this rifle in 358 I’m interested in your results.

I was looking at the 180gr TSX or the 180gr TTSX.

I use that same suppressor on 350 Legend and 357 Mag and it’s definitely hearing safe. Love my Rex can!

It’s awesome when Ruger brings back rifles that havn't been made for awhile z I’ve seen some old ones of these and can never find them used, I dont know when exactly Ruger made them in the past but I’ve always liked them.

About 7 years ago before moose season, I was at the range, there was a guy sighting one in, I thought it was awesome but never found one.

What I did end up with rough which seemed like a compromise at the time was a Ruger American chambered in 358wm. I got it and never got around to loading for it or shooting it, I ended up with maybe 400 pieces of informed 358 win brass but just got caught up in other projects.

Whats everybody's assessment of the M77? I had one and it was meh, but people must love them if they're willing to pay that eye-watering price (two whole Tikkas) for a ruger.

Its a relatively affordable CRF action. That's the reason I shelled out for one.

I can't say I would change much about this rifle. Very tempted, especially because I have a Rex Silentium 358 can already...

Trying to decide between the 308 Winchester (I would buy factory ammo) or 358 Winchester (I would reload everything)....
Looking at the numbers, 358 Winchester seems to be a hammer up close and match 308 at distance.

Hornady lists loads for a 358 Win with the 200gr bullet going 2700 FPS (same speed as the 308 pushes a 165gr).

The 358 Winchester is certainly a reloaders cartridge.. however.. it's a good cartridge for whitetail deer and black bear!

I certainly believe that they are going to also offer the 358 Winchester in their American lineup. Probably with a 20 inch threaded barrel!

Being a 35 caliber and the case design.. it will only lose about 35fps per inch of barrel lost! Which in my opinion is not as big as a deal as what the 6.5 and 243 will lose! Those two will be effected dramatically!

I'm also a fan of the 350 Legend! The very first time I squeezed the trigger.. I feel in love with the cartridge!
Very little recoil.. yet still enough energy to knock the snot out of the biggest buck in the woods

I recently bought a stainless Ruger Frontier in .358 Win. That's the one that has a quarter rip to mount a scout scope and a 16" barrel. I haven't shot it yet but loaded some 200gr FTX and some 225gr Gameking today for it.

Nice! That's a great find

I just loaded up some 358 Winchester ammunition today! I'm using the Hornady Interlock 200 grain bullets. Accurate 2015 powder and have gotten a .262 inch group!

I have used the FTX bullets as well and got a .32 inch group with those.

I maxed out at 2540 in my 20" Backed it down to 2450 for best accuracy, but that's fine with me. I'm still north of 2000 at 300yds with a 220gr Speer.
My longest shot so far has been 198yds & hammered the crap out a nice whitetail.
It's far from being a laser beam, but as a not-long-range gun, it's pretty phenomenal.
I've only killed hogs & deer with it, but they've all died noticeably quicker than with my old .308View attachment 974345

There's not really much to write up!
I scored a Rem 700 .243 Youth model at an end of season Walmart sale in 2015 (i think!) for $349 I shipped it straight up to Jesse at JES reboring & had it taken out to .358.
I picked up a smoking deal on a used Brown's Precision Pound'r stock & installed a BDL floorplate & mag box. I initially had a Vortex scope on it, but it didn't last long. I replaced it with a Leupold Vx2 2-7x33 in Talley lightweight rings that've (so far/fingies crossed/touch wood) held a perfect zero. Load development was silly simple. I tried 2 bullets & 1 powder combo & hit gold on my second try.
She weight exactly 7lb with 4 in the box, 1 in the pilot's chair.

Looks like the street price is between $1000 and $1100 per Gallery of Guns. The stainless .243 has my attention and seems like a good value when Tikka and Browning's competitive offerings at that price are both blued steel.

I would love one like that with 18"-20" barrel and the ruger iron sights. Like the M77RS here.
