IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THIS IS A SUBALPINE, NOT A MOUNTAIN ASCENT. I DID NOT EVEN PAY ATTENTION TO IT. MY APOLOGIES IF THAT IS/WAS AN ISSUE.

your description is correct... It is a Mountain Ascent (rifle name) sub alpine is the name of the camo pattern. open country would be the other option, and they made it in solid colors

Appreciate it. That's what I thought, too. But, I figured I would throw it out there in case anyone was curious. Still a great gun at a great price.

An ascent has both a fluted barrel and skeletonized bolt handle. It’s not a mountain ascent.

Close but no. The sub alpine is a Montana with a Sitka subalpine stock. Still a great gun but a mountain ascent has a fluted barrel, bolt, bolt handle and extractor.

There is/was a mountain ascent in subalpine and also a green one (I have one) but before that they had one just called the “subalpine”. They don’t make it any longer. That’s what this one is.

Does this one have a fluted bolt and skeletonized bolt handle?

From the pics it looks like it does not have a fluted bolt/bolt handle or barrel but the extractor is machined out so it’s a subalpine, not a mountain ascent. Still a kickass rifle for sure but not a mountain ascent is all.

Flutes on barrel (marked "Subalpine") and no flutes on bolt

Cool, I didn’t realize the subalpine had a fluted barrel. The mountain ascent will be stamped “mountain ascent” on the barrel.
