Ok Guys,

My wife and I are expecting our first child in March and I’ve decided I’d really like to go elk hunting this fall, because I’m afraid if I don’t go now I’ll have a hard time getting away the next few years. Couple questions, I’m looking at second rifle season considering unit 13, is it feasible for a first timer to go it alone? How’s the weather? I have a smaller Davis tent and stove I’d like to set up and hunt from.

Thanks for your time,
Ryan

Hi Ryan, congratulations on becoming a father! The temps may depend on the altitude you'll be at. My experience in Colorado is it can be 40 degrees or it could be 10 degrees. And very windy. You need to be ready for anything and everything.

There's no reason not to go. 13 is pretty light on public land other than the blm on the south side.
