I’ve had great customer service from L&S and really like their boots but I don’t think you need to spend the extra money of their custom option.

I did the custom process, not worth the money at all, nothing custom about it. When I received the first pair and they weren't close to fitting , I had doubts but thought I'd give them a shot and try to get it right. When the second pair came and not only didn't fit but had the issues I started with plus more, I sent them back for a full refund. I ended up going with Schnees Timberlines which work great for my feet.
