Looking for opinions on this boot. What’s the stiffness like?

They are stiff. Similar in stiffness to my Kenetrek Mountain Extremes.

I have had both... imo the l&s are stiffer than my mountain extremes

How do they flex in your hands, like 1/2” at most? Or less than that?

Depends how beastly your hands are. They are about as flexible as a heavy duty backpacking boot, but more flexible than a true alpine mountaineering boot. I like Schnees flex rating system, in that Id rate them a 3.

Stiff is gonna save your feet and ankles over the long haul of life!

I recently bought their mountain elites and IMO they are stiffer than my Kenes were when new. I have a lot of miles on the Kene Mtn Extremes and they have softened up over the years. The L&S have more stiffness in the sole and much more in the side flex around the ankle. I have done a couple training hikes with them and so far no issues.
