All the CDS dials do is take the place of you going out and shooting your rifle, finding out where you need to dial to at measured distances for the bullet you are shooting.
I respectfully disagree. Some of us don't have ranges within 200 miles of us to go shoot past 200 yards. Plus a guy like my dad wants to sight in and be done, he only shoots a few times a year and if the CDS does a good job and can help a guy take a poke better I am all for it.

I've purchased a vx3i and just recently installed.it on my 7mm , my question is I plan on shooting the same grain and type shells. But I hunt in different altitudes from 1000ft to 3000 ft. When I get my CDS dial made should I say I hunt at the 2000 ft altitude? How big of a difference will it make ?

I had my custom VX3 dial printed in MOA with the zero stop rather than yardage, even had a “for dummies” arrow added to the top for quick reference of zero in hunting situations.

Thanks mcseal2, I just finished chronographing my hunting load, just need to get the correct elevation figured before sending it off to leopold to make the dial.

I also have the VX 3i on .270 and regularly shot 500 yds with confidence. Targets after that a little difficult to see but still dead on with CDS. I am customized for Nozler partition 150 gr and drop to 130 gr Hornady for goats/deer and only see the zero change couple inches at longer ranges.
