Looking for DIY Spotting Scope holder for bench

I hoping someone has tackled this issued. I looking for ideals to make my own clamp on spotting scope holder for a shooting bench when I go to the range. I seen some nice ones but they acquire lathe work which I don't have.

When I say clamp I'm thinking a clamp that wood workers use to glue up boards either pipe style that screw down or grip style that you just squeeze to increase pressure.
Then maybe some used or thrift store recovery tripod head or maybe mechanical hinge arrangement to attach the clamp's rod to hold and allow adjustment of the spotter.

I have not tackled this issue but its been on my mind for a different idea. But these ideas might help you out. Video enthusiast have been there and done that with almost everything optic oriented. So research video camera tree stand mounts or something similar.
