Maine Grouse

I've hunted grouse in Maine before, but it was end of October/almost November.

Due to other trips I already have planned for October/November, I'm looking at going back fro Maine, but it would be for the opener in late September.

What differences will there be from September to October besides the trees still having leaves and it being warmer?

Early season focus on low areas. Swamp edges and creek bottoms. Any place where you notice that slight temp drop. Also I would focus on staying on trail and hope one flushes down or across.
