Guys,

I am looking for a gunsmith that can reblue and recrown a sporterized Mauser. It would be great if they could also give it a general once over. This is rifle is part of a lot of memories and I would just like to bring back some of its good looks.

Thanks for the help!

I’ll be following this thread, as I am also seeking a smith to rebarrel a 98. The gun is already sporterized and I need a different contoured blank threaded, chambered, crowned, and installed.

To the OP - I am currently planning to use Ahlman’s in Minnesota.

Have a local gunsmith recrown, then send it to Glenrock Bluing.

Ahlman's does good work as well. I have them do simple checkering jobs. For a custom, Jim Kobe is good as are many others.
