@Josh Boyd I borrowed a set of older model Leica Geovids in 10x42 this past hunting season and really liked them as they were a huge step up from the bushnell glass I had been using before. Unable to borrow the Leica’s again this year, I am looking to upgrade my own kit. Where do you see the B2’s falling short of specifically the Leica’s? When will I be hitting myself for not forking over the extra cash for EL’s, SLC’s or Geovids?
For me the B2's had a little more chromatic aberration also called "purple fringing" in high contrasting conditions such as glassing patchy snow pockets in burned timber or along a heavily wooded skyline back-lit with bright sky. other than that they really don't give up too much. If you are the kind of guy who can't forget how clear the alpha glass can be under all conditions you may want to save a little more and get exactly what you want. But if you want something right now that is dang close in clarity I'd say grab the Mavens and don't look back.
