I'm a little surprised that no one has talked about puff balls in this thread. If you find them softball sized and young, wash, slice thin and fry in butter they make a terrific burger topper with a slice of Swiss cheese.
We've had such a dry summer and fall that we haven't really found anything worth talking about - a couple morels this spring and a couple dinky puffballs this fall. It's raining now, so maybe we'll get some good puffballs coming in soon. We put them on pizza, in scrambled eggs, served with steaks, etc.
Found this on our new property we just bought. I think it’s a coral tooth. I just ate a pan full of it and it was pretty good, so I hope it all works out. If any of you know it’s something I shouldn’t have ate a pan full of and I need to “head that way” please let me know.
Well that’s what I came here for. I just had the order of things a little backwards. But I still feel good so I’m gonna go back and get that big chunk!
