Im just trying to get the word out on this, I know theres quite a few MT guys on here.
Remember to vote NO on I-169 which will ban all trapping on MT public lands if they get the signatures (which I fear they might this time).
Supporters of this initiative are using the "safety" issue to pets and children. Well the numbers dont lie, nobody (other than trappers themselves) has been caught in a trap in MT, and only two dogs were killed all last year (four were hit on my 20 mile stretch of road alone last year). In typical fashion, they're preying on unfounded fears to pass their true agenda, which is anti-trapping, period.
Once its banned on public, all trapping will be in jeopardy, and hunting wont be far behind.
In fact, part of me thinks this is whole thing is just a backdoor method to limit the wolf harvest in the state. They couldnt stop it, but if they can ban trapping on public ground, they'll at least cut the wolf harvest in half roughly.
