Headed to Montana September 17th-29th for archery elk Flying into Bozeman. What should I expect or be prepared for as far as the weather. Could there be possibly of snow or being cold. Looked at the weather channel forecast for September shows low 40’s but I don’t know how accurate that is???

For sure cold in the mornings, evenings and at night, especially at higher elevations. Maybe hot during the day, Maybe a foot of snow.

Very unpredictable year to year.

As others have said, be prepared for anything. Around the same time window from year to year I have been in t-shirts or a foot of snow.

Id say average is usually 40/70. Some days end up a little colder. Some days end up a little hotter. Could snow or rain or anything else imaginable.

Usually a weather change around the 21. I have seen 25" of snow a couple times. Otherwise cold mornings and hot days. A tough time to guess how many layers you will need.

That late in the season it's going to snow. Pack for it. That's why I started taking my vacation during the first two weeks of season. Ha and it's still snowed on Labor Day

Make sure you've got your November kit. You'll want a winter weight sleeping bag back at the truck for sure. That late in the season it'll get to 20 degrees at night.

It also likes to rain for weeks on end in September.

I hear the weather in AZ is a lot better and so is the hunting...

We've had it all within a 2 day span, warm and dry to 5" of wet heavy snow. I'd say a majority of the time it will be perfect hunting weather but I would plan on some no so perfect weather for sure. Good luck and have fun!!
