New build. New scope options

I have no experience with their customer service unfortunately. Or fortunately I guess lol

They’re not that great. I’ve put several on friends’s guns and would rather shoot the 3-18 Tenmile, despite the tree reticle.

You’re fine with MOA. Quick drop is pointless if whatever you’re using to get your range (which you need in order to even use quick drop) has a ballistic solver. And wind is just wind. You better know it, and your system, or you’re missing.
Thanks for the feedback

I’m curious what you don’t like about the Maven. I’ve got two Tenmiles and four Mavens, and preferred just about everything on the Maven even before the Tenmiles became significantly more expensive.

Not that I don’t like the maven. It’s good for the money. That’s why I recommend it my buddy’s that are more budget conscious. It’s just not that great in general. I actually like everything more about the Tenmile lol. Even though they are very close to similar. Probably just different strokes is all I’m sure. That said, I’d have a hard time paying $1600 for a new one.

Makes sense. I put them in the same category, and think the choice between the two comes down to preference in reticle and resale value, where the Trijicon seems to have an advantage due to brand recognition.

For some reason I find myself favoring the Tenmile on ARs and the Maven on hunting rifles.

I’ve got a pair of the Credo 2-10X as well, but don’t like them as much as the other two (other than the price tag).

I hadn’t realized the Mavens went up to $1400. That price increase somewhat levels the playing field again between it and the Tenmile. For me, I find myself preferring the glass and reticle on the Maven, but that’s almost certainly viewer dependent.

I am familiar with mils and the ease of using it. I see the advantages of it. Both are equally easy imo. I was actually considering it for a while on this build. But no one I hunt with uses mils. And communicating with them in mils is like a foreign language to them. It just doesn’t have enough positives for what I’ll be using this rifle for and who I’ll be hunting with. If at some point I end up changing my mind then it’s a pretty easy switch for me.
I agree on MOA. Lot of my older Zeiss and Swarovski scopes used the cm adjustment which was about the same as mils…or 1/3 inch. The MOA scopes are 1/4 inch. Much finer adjustments and at distance that is better a wind hold. I use the Revic rangefinder and it reads MOA and of course yardage and BDC. I really don’t personally see a reason in casual shooting or hunting to use MIL. I would never own a mil scope.

Khales is 125 years old and credited with making the first rifle scope. They are now owned by Swarovski. I was a big user of Swarovski scopes, always used their binoculars and have two of their spotters. However when I wanted to get into the ballistics game and dial up turrets it was obvious that Swarovski fell short and had problems. I also wanted to go FFP. So as you do your research you will see most of the other companies have products made or source products from two Japanese factories. That includes the products you mentioned in your post. Japanese glass falls short of Austrian glass. There is a reason hunters like the Swarovski EL and Pure binoculars. I’ve taken some pretty good falls in the mountains with my Swarovski rifle scopes and they still worked the same. The standards for the Khales scopes are fully controlled by the company. Contrast that to the other scope companies who either use full manufacturing or partial sourcing from Japan. They simply do not have full control of the process. Listen to A Davidson of Revic discussing this on this site or other podcasts. He explains his frustration in trying to get a scope to market the way he wants it built. Now quality comes with cost and you will spend more money on a Khales. Swarovski is now leaning more on Khales for input into their products and down the road you will see more changes in my opinion. I haven’t had a chance to look at the Khales 3 series. It’s a shorter scope and not as high magnification but still great option for a hunting rifle. Finally to answer your question I have so far no issues on durability with mine.

I've had more time with my NX8s but they've been flawless. I was in your shoes and intitally got a couple MOA versions because that's what I was used to but now I've swapped them all over to mil. That is the way my brother.

I have one Maven and so far it's good but I just don't have the confidence in it that I do with my NX8s although I will say I like the reticle more.

Most of us are using our guns in hunting scenarios not shooting clay pigeons and golf balls at 1k yards. I can see having the finer adjustment for those cases, but for a deer and elk vitals it’s not as necessary. I grew up on MOA, but my next scope will be Mil to take advantage of wind calls and quick drops.

Dude spends almost half the video explaining that mils is probably faster and great for PRS or animal shooting.

Ok. I’m not 💯 set on moa. Trijicon tennile 3-18x44 seems like a heck of a hunting scope. Please link me or educate me on the advantages of wind calls and quick drops. I would like to make sure I am fully educated

The reticles are either in moa or mils. If your range finder reads in moa or mils is same correction on scope. However you are more likely to be stuck between mils as they are less fine. At this point the Revic scope the op asked about is MOA. No advantage on wind or drop

Thanks. I’ve read through these multiple times. All 3 seem to perform very well. With Revic reticle standing out as the best hunting reticle option

Are you saying no advantage on wind and drop between mil and moa? From what I’ve seen your wind call is much simpler with mils and for shooting a 6.5cm(such as myself) I can use the “6.5cm hack”, I wouldn’t necessarily do it on game but it’s handy tip to know how to use.

ive been very happy with the tenmile 3-18. yes i wish the Christmas tree was gone, however i don't even notice it when shooting targets or game.
