I have a Browning X Bolt 6.5 Creedmor that I want to use for coyotes...I am trying to decide which bullet to use. We don't save fur so I am not worried about that but I also don't want to spend more on a 140gr. Anyone have experience with either of these in a 6.5? I might just buy both and shoot both but I wanted to start here first.

Edit: The Nosler is a 90gr and the VMax is a 95gr.

I've been really happy with the way 60gr vmax shoots out of a 223. I only shot one coyote with them and it was a 60yd headshot so no real data there.

With several coyote kills with both in .223, I much prefer the VMax. Varmegeddon was real “splashy” on coyotes for me. 6.5 may be different though.

Good to know. I know when we shot the VMax out of my dad's 22-250 it didnt shoot the same as the Nosler. I cant remember which Nosler we are using on the 22-250 though. I might just buy both and try them.

I like the Nosler Ballistic tips out of a 22-250...

I believe that is what we use in our 22-250. I like them in a 55gr. They shoot much better than the Hornady VMax for that gun. I ended up buying both Nosler and Hornady to see what the 6.5 likes.

So far so good with the VMax out of the Creedmor. I've talked to a number of people that tell me the 6.5 shoots a 120gr best but my groups with these 95gr have been really good. Provided we don't get blasted with snow, we should be hitting the desert for some yotes this weekend.

I run the 95gr vmax with 40 grains of varget, they not only are accurate but smash dogs very well!

I’ve had a lot of luck with vmax in a range of calibers. As long as you’re not trying to maintain a good hide you’ll be happy!

I tried the Varmageddon out of my .243 with the same results went back to 58 and 75 grain vmax

I only use 53gr vmax for the 223 with coyotes. They have yet to leave an exit hole nor a lost dog.
