My good buddy and I have 27 non resident deer points for Oregon . We are looking for an outfitter recommendation for the murderer creek area or any place something’s is better. We realize that deer in Oregon are not what they used to be. Just want to go hunting , thanks .

Ty lives to hunt Mule deer.

If you contact him, tell him Quinn sent you.

FYI, I took pic 5769 and 5770 in the gallery.

Edit to add, no dog in the fight.

Do you each have 27, or is that the total between both of you (13 on the application)?

In my opinion, you should be looking at something in a higher point pool than MC. You have enough points to cover 7 more 0-point guys on MC. I hunt Oregon DIY, but an outfitter, Huntin' Fool, Go Hunt, etc. can direct you on another hunt selection to best take advantage of your points. If you are planning to hunt this year, then you'll need to act fast. Sunday is the deadline to edit hunt choices.

If you do decide to do MC, you may be able to work with an outfitter to fill those 7 slots on your group application. Otherwise, you'd be 42 points over what you need for just your two tags.

It would be a waste of points to put in for murderers creek. It takes 5 points for out of state to get this tag.

With that being said. This is the last year before ODFW changes the mule deer boundaries and units. 2026 is up in the air. A hunt that requires a high amount of points doesn't necessarily mean it it good hunt....however it does serve as a guideline.

I'd put in for one of 3 late hunts... i know which one i would pick I will admit i haven't looked to see how many non resident tags they offer for those I think the right answer is that you apply with me and some friends and we will use the average

If you're looking at 2026, they're changing the deer units and likely tag counts. That may affect your strategy. That may not matter with 27 points. That's a lot of points.

Oregon here, I would not blow 27 points on Murders Creek.
Im not certain what unit deserves that many points, you waited too long but I know how life gets in the way. If your doing a DIY hunt Id probably look at Hells Canyon, Steens, or Trout Creek Mts...
Non resident and enough points to assure any tag Im not certain Id go DIY but hire a guide.

We agree, looking for any recommendations on an outfitter . Any contact info on a good outfitter would be greatly appreciated . We are looking at 2026 . Thanks

Not that a character reference means much from a stranger, I’ve never hunted with Ty, but I know him personally and he’s a great guy.
