Never heard of this until it showed up on one of my Idaho news feeds.

Parachuting beavers into Idaho's wilderness? Yes, it really happened

More than 60 years ago, Idaho Fish and Game dropped beavers out of a plane and parachuted them into the state's backcountry. This little-known piece of Idaho history stars a crafty Fish and Game officer and a plucky male beaver named Geronimo.

Ah, simpler times when G&F could manage wildlife based on science rather than politics and fear of lawsuits from extremest groups

It’s fairly well known history in Idaho. I’ve always thought it was very cool. The aerial fish planting in high alpine lacks has always been pretty amazing to me as well.

I was in there this past fall and there’s still a health population of them near the airstrip.
