10/20/25 while elk hunting NW CO. We first saw one and then the other approaching from a quarter mile away. They were displaying and grunting each other. It ended without a confrontation. One of them had what looked like a wound on its right rear hind quarter, with a pronounced limp.

This buck refused to believe I wasn't an elk. I was making elk noises, and we were in a really random and deep spot where there shouldn't be any people. He kept pacing around and staring for several minutes from 20 feet away before he finally seemed confused enough and wandered off. This was the first year of this area being a draw and not general season, so I didn't have a tag.
