1953. $1850 to FFL in L48 firearm friendly state. Crossposted. Really improved my love life; going to regret this already.

Yes you will... I have the exact rifle (except earlier).. There will be no more of these.. Not a bad price for what it is.. Hopefully everyone can appreciate how rare good ones with this action (length, etc) are... If I didn't already own one I'd be talking to you.. GLWS and merry Christmas..

Good day all. Quite a bit of interest in the rifle via PMs. I will add a bit more color…

I bought it with the intention of using it only a few months ago...subsequently decided to book an African trip for 2025 so am liquidating a handful of firearms. All I know is someone sold it to The Gun Room in Lakewood CO who I purchased it from. I have not shot it. Bore came dirty but looks ok to me to my uneducated eyes (I don’t have a bore scope)

Modifications: I am not a pre-64 expert so take it for what it is. The only piece I see as a mod is the rear sight has been removed (I am assuming for scope clearance); I do not have the sight but presume would be a fairly easy replacement. The scope is a very old fine crosshair Weaver V8 2.5-8 that is 'stuck' on 2.5 power on weaver rings. If I keep it I’ll probably yank and sell for a few bucks to guys that like vintage scopes

Bolt serial matches the action. I haven't taken the action out but believe the stock is original.

Condition: to me seems great for the age. A couple minor rust spots and wearing off the bluing (see pictures). Stock wear is largely a nick and scuffing on where a cheek piece would be for a lefty.

Locks up tight. Just kinda overbuilt quality wise throughout.

Buttpad is cool stippled metal inlet into the stock.

tried to point to any imperfections in follow up pics.

Price is firm.

It would have had one of two different sights (at buyer option), either a folding leaf sight or a leaf/ramp sight.. Some people removed the sights altogether and replaced them (rear) with a slot/dovetail filler.. This kept the dovetail from rusting up and kept the dovetail from catching on everything it touches.. From what I can see in the (limited) photos it looks correct and original.. In that particular caliber most were fitted at the factory with a Winchester or Hawkins red pad. The fact that it is the steel butte plate makes it an animal to shoot.. You're lucky that it's still there.. A lot of pre-64s were cut off and pads installed (most poorly). To find any pre-64 with original stock is getting hard. If I had my hands on it I'd bring it back to Winchester original finish.. I have stock finish from the old New Haven plant and have done dozens of them over the years.. Super rifle.. Sell a kidney and keep the rifle... (LOL) All the best... PM if you have any pre-64 questions... I've been collecting them since the 60s..

Sorry, the second batch of pictures didn't post...let's do that again.
Tried to point to any wear issues (the wear on the bluing is a little hard to see)
Thanks @TAArrowood for the input ... they are just lovely rifles.
