I have a ruger RPR 17hmr that I want to mount a Vortex PST 4-16x50 on. Any idea what ring height I need for this set up? I am not an AR or RPR guy, so I know its gotta be higher than a traditional rifle, just not sure if I need high or extra high rings…can anybody give me some guidance?

My best advice is to take into whatever gun store you deal with and try different heights. It's what I do. That way, you can see the setup before you buy it. Sometimes, if the guys at the counter are not busy, they'll mount and bore site it for you.

I buy all my stuff from one store. Not always the cheapest, but I get great service and plain honesty.

Measure it then check online with the dimensions given by ring manufacturers.
You can always take few coins like quarters then stack atop the rail. Then place scope on top of quarters to get idea how much space you need. Then use a caliper to measure your stack of coins. Business cards work too if dont have coins. Kind of ghetto but it works, it gets you in the ballpark.
