"Rokslide Classifieds" clogged and cluttered - consider separating?

A clothing subforum is an interesting idea for this forum that holds merit. That being said I'd recommend that new subforums be added diligently and minimally. You're more likely to screw it up with to many than to improve it at this point.

24 to 72hrs is an excellent idea. This would clear up most of the clutter.

To me this feels like opening a project file folder at work. Some people put everything in one folder and other people need a folder for every file. They equally curse each other because neither can find their target file in the others organization.

Also I post a fair amount of classifieds and yes I bump them. Hint hint I’ll stop bumping if somebody will buy my ATX 95 setup I blame Rokslide for my gear buying/selling addiction! I was fine until I found this establishment over a decade ago and now I get FOMO when I see the next “best” thing y’all are bragging about.

Yeah, I already had a Kifaru Ark frame, obviously I don’t need another, but then I came across one for $300, which was impossible to pass up… so I got it and gave it to my brother for his birthday

Any chance of possibly splitting up the Firearms classifieds into 'Actual Firearms' & 'Firearm accessories'?

I'm a very rare classifieds user, I doubt I've posted more than 10 things since I've been here & honestly, that's mostly because 20 minutes after I've listed something is 3 pages back & so unlikely to get seen it's not even funny!

You wouldn't think the Firearms forum would get that cluttered, but between the slings, brass, bullets, mounts, take off stocks & barrels & everything else going on, it's really discouraging trying to list an actual gun. Especially if it's not something you can really search for.

I've always inferred that a Firearms sections is only items that require an FFL. However, it never seems to work that way.

The easy button is adding subforums to the "Guns Classifieds". Subforums have been added elsewhere here, so not unprecedented.

No one is making you stay here. You’ve also been shown the option to filter your results.

Filtering results doesn't change that classifieds are exactly what this thread title says. Thoughtful input goes as far as folks are willing to seriously take it. Far from crying victim, I stay away from them at this point, if it improves I'll sure as heck participate. In the meantime I will advocate, not cry, unless somebody takes it personally then they might call it crying for a better system that doesn't coddle and enable clutter, as per the thread title.

How about an option to "Hide" threads in the Classifieds?

Say there was something for sale that you have zero interest in you can "Hide" the entire thread and it wont keep appearing at the top every time it gets bumped. That would really clean things up without a need for additional sub-categories.

Not a bad idea- a new guy might think the classifieds section could be a First Lite, Sitka, and Kuiu store.

Are you allowed to draw a tag in your state unless you're in matching First Lite camo?? I thought that was just the price you pay to play the game...

It’s something that administrators would have to setup. I don’t know what the decision process was to give archery its own category but I assume this would be considered similarly.

Given that the new Suppressor Classifieds was just set up - can we please, now, have a "Clothing" classifies at least? The catch-all "Rokslide Classifieds" is now more cluttered and messier than ever.

Who would we have to appeal to in order to get this considered directly?

If people learned that all gun stuff goes in the gun classified, all optics In the optics, all bow stuff goes in the bow classified , ect…

Just as an example, the Canadian Gun Nutz forum has an option to view "New Posts minus EE" and "New EE" (Equipment Exchange on that forum). I regularly check both on that forum, and it's nice to have that option. I don't know how difficult it would be to implement here.

Ha, that's half of what I'm there for too. But the "everything else" aspect that isn't clothing legitimately is including things like camp gear, packs, knives, the occasional car or livestock stuff, fishing, garmins/electronics, etc.

There's also some confusion from guys interpreting "Guns Classifieds" as literally guns only - not gun-associated stuff, like parts, accessories, or reloading components. Which are definitely gun stuff. But some of those guys may be why they're putting gun stuff in the general classifieds, being overly cautious.
