I have decided to sell my Savage 99F featherweight in 300 Sav, though at one time I thought this would be the last rifle I parted with. This rifle is a pleasure to carry all day at 7 1/2lbs with scope and sling. Pictures are from my I Phone so maybe not the best. I can Take more pictures per request. The scope is already in the classifieds, so it may be gone by the time the rifle sells. The one bad spot on the rifle is a ding in the buttstock that I show in the pictures. This is an accurate shooter with 150 gr factory ammo. Hunted with this the first year I had it and took a small NY Adirondack buck and have not had it in the field again since picking up a Savage 99 Brush gun in .358.
The serial # is 9562XX, having a manufacturing date of 1958.IMG-0095.jpgIMG-0096.jpgIMG-0097.jpgIMG-0090.jpg

$625 shipped for rifle, bases, and rings, sling not included.
$895 shipped for rifle with mounted VX-3 1.5-5x20 scope, sling not included.

PM with any questions or additional pics, and thanks for looking.

Yes, this is a pre-mil, safety on the lever and has the brass shell counter. Nice case color on the lever also. Thanks for looking.

One last look, then back in the safe until next September when rifles will be more in demand. Pretty soft market right now.

Cruizer,
Nice rifle. How did you ever find a model 99 in .358 Winchester? Can you show me/us a few picks of that gem?
Does this rifle have the rotary magazine? I looked hard at one 2 years ago in the same .300 Savage caliber at a local gun shop. One day it was gone and I have regretted it ever since. Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards
LaGriz

LaGriz, I picked up the 99 in 358 on the 24hourcampfire classifieds. Savage made a 99 “Brush” gun in 358 and 375 in the late 60’s and early 70’s, and yes they have the rotary magazine, but they have a tang safety, not on the lever like earlier 99’s. I will get it out of the safe and post up some pics, but it is not for sale.:p

Understood, I would prefer the tang safety model given a choice. Thanks for the response and I would love to see the pics if your up to it. I killed 2 whitetail bucks this year with my .358 win chambered in a Model 70 win. having good results with a TTSX 200 grain load. Awesome performance with accuracy of less than 1" at 100 yards.

Regards

I could never understand why the 358 never had more popularity, highly under rated caliber. Savage also made a few 358 model F's like the one in 300 that I have for sale. In fact a model F in 358 just sold last week on 24hourcampfire for $1450, and it sold quick.

Agreed that its an underrated caliber. There are far better bullets available now . Probably due to the increased popularity of the .35 Whelan. My 1st rifle was a .35 Remington that regularly folded up whitetail deer at close range. The .358 Win sends pointed bullets down range at more than 500 feet per second faster then a .35 Rem. With this TTSX load, I would be confident with shots in the dark timber at elk short of 300 yards.
