I am leaving Friday morning for a solo trip into the Trinity Alps for the B Zone archery opener here in California.

I am planning on Friday thru Wednesday unless I kill something then I would obviously come out. The area I am heading into is only about 7 miles deep but it is a dry camp and water is some work to get to. I am hoping a few small isolated areas hold some water a little closer to camp. There is also a lake I may move camp to after a couple days depending on what I am seeing, that means some back country fishing.

I am debating trying to make this a semi-live hunt, but my service may be spotty at best.
I don’t want to say I am going to do it and then have spotty service and not enough updates as that seems disappointing.

I will start sorting gear and packing it up tomorrow and Thursday, so I guess I will know soon enough on cell service.

And the optics, which for me and my opinion can’t get any better for a back pack type hunt. 9# 6 ounces, but it can save me miles on my feet to avoid hiking over to a buck I can determine isn’t a shooter from where I sit.

The sleep system complete with the Thermarest Neo Air, WM Alpenlite, the Kuiu Summit Star 1p and a little travel pillow. 5# 10 ounces, because if you don’t get good rest, you won’t hunt as hard. (This weight did not include the five Tylenol PM’s)

Cook system of the jet boil titanium, the best utensil ever made for eating out of a bag, water storage and filters. Just under 9 liters total. All of this is 3# 1 ounce dry.

The filters are the MSR Micro Works and the Sawyer Micro Squeeze. I don’t use any Sawyer bags as they always leak or break at the seams, but this top screws right onto my bottle and I can drink directly from there when in the field.

Everything else are the little things; hygiene stuff, head lamp, phone, inreach mini, battery pack, first aid kit, fishing kit, kill kit, one extra pair of socks and one change of underwear. All packed into the new Kuiu Pro 6000.

Almost forgot the weapon of choice for this trip:

Hoyt Carbon Defiant
Gold Tip Pro Hunters
Sevr 100 grain 2.1’s

And yes I know I only have five arrows. That is because I only have five Sevr’s and I now get to save 450 grains off my total set up!

The final load out: everything packed in there for the trip in other than this. The clothes I am wearing and my trekking poles.

And as a side note, the entire top lid is empty. About five miles in I will hit my last water for a few days, so both reservoirs I brought will go in there. It will be roughly 15 pounds worth of water, but I am only about two miles from camp.

Good Luck to you, sounds like your well prepared.
Noticed your from Roseville, spent a couple months up there
one summer building the Cattlemans Restaurant. My favorite
part while installing the refrigeration was putting in the Inst-Frost
Beer Mug coolers in the Historical Bar.Ha!,Ha!...American river was cool too.
