The Black Diamond Orbit Lantern is excellent. I've used it for three years. Takes 4 AAA batteries. I use lithiums and I don't bother with spares. It hangs in my tipi during late season hunts. Never had a set of batteries run down and we typically have the lantern on for a few hours each night/morning during late season hunts while cooking, playing cards, whatever. The lantern collapses down really small for packing.

Currently on sale at REI.

I use the Luci lanterns, light, pack small and work very well. Your blowing up a sleeping pad, might as well blow up a lantern also.
Good luck in your search.

+1 for luci lanterns. I leave it outside of camp. Has handled rain a few times and works great to light up the tent at night. And you get to save your headlamp batteries for when they are needed.
