Spring Tuning

Tuning the stalker Jackal Recurve with 2016s 500 grains and 2018s 590 grains. Both are flying well.

More tuning with the Stalker Jackal Recurve. 3 different arrow setups that all tuned well and grouped well at 20 yards. Today I took them out to 40 yards to see how they grouped.

Red= 2016 28” with 150 grn point 500 TAW
Blue= 2016 28.25” with 150 grn point 505 TAW
Black= 2018 28.75” with 175 grn point 580 TAW

The 28” 2016 was the winner today. The 2018 will be my hunting arrow with some more fine tuning.

The bow is 47lbs at my draw and 58”

Also I did multiple groups with each at 30, 35, and 40 Yards. 40 showed the biggest difference between the 3.

But….but…but…you need a massively heavy arrow in a trad bow!!! Grin

Good shooting.
Its no surprise that better trajectory improves our accuracy at various distances. If all a guy shoots is 15-20y, then by all means shoot heavy, it doesn’t matter.

For those of us that shoot 3d…or want to make a followup shot at longer range…the better trajectory is the way to go.

Heck, any arrow with a very efficient BH like a 2 blade is a penetrating monster…so when you think about it, the critical factor is accuracy At different distances.

I do like the lighter arrows for longer range and a departure from normal for me. It’s something I’m working on. The gaps is what I struggle with closer up. The heavier 2018 gives me a PO at 30 yards which is good for most of my hunting distance. However the lighter arrow lets me keep the same sight picture from 10-25 yards without really thinking about it.

I think I got the light arrow (500 grns) tune where I want it. The 40 yard group is about 5”

Bow- 58” stalker Jackal with Static Recurve limbs 47 lbs
Arrow-28” 2016 with 150 points.

Still working on the heavier 2018 arrow setup. I should be around 560-575 on that once I get final tune.
