This hunting season we’d like to collect some front line data on the fitness demands of backcountry hunting. What we’re interested in is data related to the actual hunting season – not the pre season scouting.
Specifically, during the hunting season ….
– Actual hunting days
– Total mileage covered over the season
– Highest mileage covered in a single hunting day
– Total vertical gain and loss over the season
– Highest vertical gain and loss in a single hunting day
– Hunting pack weight
– Pack out weight and distance (getting the downed game to the trailhead)
This can include hunting for multiple species, and both bow and rifle. For example, I plan to bow hunt deer and elk, but if I don’t harvest with a bow, will also hunt during rifle season.
