Well I worked up my first load with Staball 6.5 and the 130 tmk. Rifle is a savage 110 apex with a 24” barrel. Hornady lists 45.5 gr as max load for 2850fps with a 130 eldm and Hodgdon list 44.7 as max load with a 130. I worked up to 45.5 in .5 grain increments without seeing much for
Pressure signs at 45.5. 44.5 gave me the best group so I loaded 20 more once fired brass at that charge weight plus five new brass just for testing. Send them through a buddy’s chronograph and was surprised at the results . 5 shot average was 2942 FPS and new brass was at 2900 FPS. Should I be alarmed at this velocity or should I just chalk it up to a faster barrel. Again, the brass is showing no signs of pressure.

I almost exclusively use 6.5 and your perception of book vs practice are in line with what I see. My dad's 24" finalized load was 45.2gr with a 140vldh at 2900fps. My expectation with the 130 would be 2950-2975fps with a grain to spare before bolts get stiff.
