** UPDATE **
*ATX eyepiece found also...*
I have purchased an lens (85mm), now I am just looking for an ATX Ocular. Who's been drooling for a BTX? Sell me you ATX and you are on your way...

Looking for spotter, undecided on size.
NOT a truck hunter, chase elk with a bow (scope might be handy in other states locating herds to chase), likely used more for rifle hunting bear and deer, or if I rifle/elk in more open states than WA/OR coast...
What are your thoughts on 65 vs. 85?
What do you have for sale...
Thank you in advance...

If you are not needing the light gathering or zoom offered by the larger glass, I would opt for the smaller glass based on weight.

If it’s the ATX, I would start with the 65 for a lower cash barrier to entry and because you plan to carry it around. Down the road you can add a bigger objective and have the best of both worlds.

How do you plan on using the scope? Will you use it to qualify trophies or just to get a better look before deciding to take the hike or not. Multiple day backpack trips or day trips out of a base camp?

Bow hunting I usually go with camp on my back, 3-5 days at a time. Bear/Dear, varies a lot... I'm not a trophy hunter, I want to be able to identify what I'm going after. That being said, IF I get into a situation where it does matter, I'd like to be able to get a GOOD look at things from afar. I BOCO, I'm too poor to be cheap. ;)

I'd do the 65 to start then. The nice thing about the Swaro optics is you usually can get most of your money back if you decide you want something else.

The 65mm is the most versatile from a hunting perspective in my opinion, the clarity is excellent and you will be able to identify game in all but the lowest light situations. You wont fear packing it as much as the 85 and 95mm objectives. It Is is more stable on lighter tripods and tripod heads which is important to consider. I own all 3 objectives, and I need to sell one soon to build a rifle! I wont be selling the 65, too useful!
