That they do well. How does that apply to a system that doesn’t mount the scope on the barrel?

Regardless, the mount system is weaker/less able to handle abuse than correct picatinny.

The question was what way the Blaser mounting system was better. I have also had better success with QD mounts returning to zero than with any of my picatinny rails. I run a ton of thermal and remove scopes often. No system has worked as well as the Blaser system for that for me.

I like all of this btw. I’m a big fan of modular system. Having a rifle receiver perfectly set up to fit me, and rotating the other parts for different calibers, just makes sense to me. It certainly works great with my Blaser.

Dumb question. If going through the process of making a custom/improved tikka action….. why not just make a Sako 90 clone? Just give it a tikka footprint and use tikka trigger. Has integ pic, 3 lug, double plunger ejector, uses 5 round flush magazines. The ability to use those Sako mags would push me to buy one.

As a guy with only 1 tikka in the stable, technically it belongs to my son, I am very interested in this. I feel like the target audience because I have a few "custom" r700 actions with interchangeable bolt heads. That's a feature that made me pick the clone actions over a tikka. $120 for a new bolt head vs $500 for a new tikka bolt.

My next action will be a medium length. If I can get a Tikka based action with an integral Pic rail, nitrided, and an interchangeable bolt head for a competitive price, I'll do that in a heartbeat. Now if it's $1600 and I can pick up another origin for $900, thats a harder sell to be honest. Keep it close to that or under and I think you have something but I see that being hard to accomplish. However, I'd pre-order a left handed mini action right now for a 6arc build. That would be the only quality mini on the market.

To the average buyer, the r700 action will be more desirable so something has to be done to compete with that market due to the decades long marketing and standard that the r700 is. It's going to be a hard paradigm to break and if cost isn't similar to a entry grade clone, I don't see it happening being honest.

This is a great idea and I'm not sure why everyone's bitching about it. For God's sake, this is the place that literally blew tikkas up.

This is how progress is made in the industry, by trying new things and filling gaps in the market. UM has made a name for themselves doing this and they have some cool ass products. No one is perfect but I don't feel like they've really wronged anyone. Mistakes happen and it seems that they're the first to admit to a mistake and put themselves in the customers shoes. However, I'm not waiting on a rokstock either so it's easy to have some grace. As an outsider watching, I knew there would be supply issues but they seem to be transparent with the whole thing. And they have to put up with all of you gossip girls spreading rumors.

I don't even own that many UM products but I do support them when I can. I wish more companies listened to their customers as much as they do and answer the call. Give em a break guys and let's see how it turns out. If they drop a $2k tikka clone action, then you can talk all the shit you want.

They're bitchin because they don't understand incremental progress. The 1st 700 clone wasn't an ARC Mausingfield. Back then people said "Integral lug? Not worth it". Then they said Integral rails weren't a significant upgrade? Then they said dual ejector wasn't significant. Then they said prefit barrels weren't worth the $$.

Decades later and the 700 clones are far from the original. This Tikka clone is a step forward and provides options that are important to some buyers.

Buy it if it suits your needs, don't buy it if it doesn't.

You specifically said swap bolt faces, not complete bolts. You'd easily be $1500+ into three complete tikka bolts.

Total guess, UM Tikka bolt with one head, $700?, additional bolt heads $150 each?, soooo saved $500+ vs buying a bunch of bolts.

Simple example, Tikka bolts at a known vendor are $575 plus tax and shipping X3 for 223, standard and mag. That's $1900+ to have 3 bolts to my door.

Buy 3 tikkas for $750 each, one in 223, one in 308, one in idfk 6.5prc. $750x3= $2250, 3 complete rifles minus scope and rings…ok you want different stocks on each $600 each $4050. If you are fine one stock and swap between barrel actions $2850.00

This is $1300.00 now add 3 cheap Prefits what $500 a piece on sale? $1300+ $1500=$2800 a stock is another $600 so $3400.

I have 3 barreled actions I can swap between 1 stock at $2850.00 or 3 barrels and 3 bolt heads I can swap on an action for $3400. I would rather pull action screws and the whole barreled action than unscrew barrels, unless like I said it’s “near too less”.

No kidding you want a cartridge tikka doesn’t chamber then yeah you can twist it any way you want to skew the numbers. What if I bought 3 tikkas each different bolt face, took the bolt out of 2 and sold off the remaining actions, stocks, barrels, and triggers then I can skew the numbers further in my favor too.

Yeah I except I have bought multiple bolts for less than $400 to my door brand new, that takes us to $1200. I have bought plenty from the site you show I’m not new to that.

Mind you the prices have crept up a bit in the past couple years, but I bought one from your place for $375 last year I believe it was maybe in the fall. That particular place has jumped price significantly sometimes over night. You might better buy a complete rifle and strip it than buy their bolt or action.

You're correct, they're selling one bolt for a great price compared to other vendors. They show others as discontinued but that's not relevant to this discussion.

Yeah for some reason they switched the listings? I remember when I bought my first 223 bolt from them I looked it up and it was discontinued. Another member directed me back to the site under the listing I just posted the picture of I believe. Same bolt as the discontinued one just listed different with a different sku. Like I said I didn’t look to see if magnum bolts cost more, etc. it was a quick search while I’m up between coughing fits tonight.

You're not wrong here, but neither are the guys who want a Tikka featured custom. The math doesn't add up comparing a switch barrel rifle to three factory rifles if you want something that isn't available from the factory.

I say all this as someone who won't be buying a UM Tikka action but I see the niche for it. You could easily buy three Remingtons for the price of a good 700 clone and a stock, doesn't mean it's the only way.

The term "better" is purely proportionate to what someone expects or demands from their dollar spent. If they think a 6 UM Tikka with an integral pic rail and full nitride is better, it doesn't exist in a factory rifle.
