It's big. But that's what it was designed for.
Here are some initial photo's and thoughts about the new S2H bag that was designed and built for the K4 frame.

I've just had this for just over a week so it's only been packed around in a truck and shot off of. I was hoping to pack out a bear but my hunting partners couldn't spot any of them.......🤔

Of course the first thing I did was weigh it. 6.5 pounds on my scale and that is a size large. I believe it's around 7000 cubic inches and its features are meant for later season trips where one doesn't have to access the main bag to get to their gassing setup and warm clothes. Side pockets can hold a FULL size spotter, 15x cased binos, puffy clothes, etc. They connect together with a top and bottom buckle which goes over the face of the pack which has a bungee cord. This can house a sit pad, shooting bag/rest, jacket, etc. Great feature......very useful. This also goes along with the bungees that are on top of the lid and one inside the lid for secure storage. Think stove.

Two other features that stand out are dedicated trekking pole holders that are easy to access, out of the way and my favorite feature is........the separate sleeping bag compartment. In these photos, there is a Durston Xmid 2 with poles, 20 degree quilt, sea to summit ether light XR, pillow, windshirt and plenty of room for additional items. You can also access the main bag through this compartment via a zipper. I basically had this packed with everything for a 3 day bear hunt.

More updates to follow from others along with myself.

you know your one partner is cursed right? Leave him in camp to cook and you'll be wading through bears! 😆

Not to be a contrarian, but I have had very little issues with the K4 bags in their stock form, so this leaves me curious. Removing face or side compression straps to get at pockets has always been okay with me, because I like the pack shape "managed." I'm also pretty sensitive to pack width and catching on brush, etc (meaning streamlined is appealing to me). I have some biases based on what I want - I'd be geniunly interested in hearing what work well with a bag in this form, vs the standard offerings. Aside from uncompressed "pods" adding to the width but offering quick access, what are the other gains?

Couple other items I'd like to see some field feedback and photos on:
- Mostly compressed state of the bag, and how variable volume use is managed, given the size.
- Weapons carry?
- Batwings open on the bag.
- all that bungee looks like hell to move through terrain with - what's the gain over using a stretch pocket? What's the typical use for this?
- Access to side stretch pockets, etc?
- Carry footprint on back - how far out are those pods from center on a fully-loaded bag?
- Sleeping bag compartment - typical to compress your bag in a compression style stuff sack - is the thought to forgoe those and build it into the bag, or?

@Mark at EXO you might have some of this planned with hard release; this seems pretty far from the normal design approach, so it would be intersting hearing about pro-typing and building something that differs from typical use case K4 bags were made in mind of.

Makes me think of a Timberline and an EMR2 having a child. The design philosophy makes sense and I could certainly see the beneficial uses in late season multi day backpack hunts. These days I mostly have extended hunts in early to mid seasons and day hunt the later seasons. But if the itch arises, I would be intrigued by this bag option.

I got the impression the bag is designed by the shoot2hunt guys, their design approach, marketing approach, etc. Hence those questions / comments should be addressed to them.

IE, EXO is just building the bag to the spec shoot2hunt designed.

for a gear junkie like myself this bag looks great! I like the bungie as it seems a lot easier to stuff rain gear or jacket in and if you have a hunt buddy he could easily grab it for you. I love the simplicity of the K4 but have wished for a few more pockets to compartmentalize gear. I'm excited for the official breakdown!

I'm probably with you on preferring the streamlined bags but it's fun to see things develop and look at the reasoning behind design choices. Different people have different preferences so you'll never create a bag that works well for everyone in every situation. They've said this is designed for late season, which probably makes sense to favor easier access in the cold vs. streamlined for moving through brush, etc.

Hmmm...I think I need to check it out. There are a couple things I really like about it and a couple things I'm not crazy about.

I can't tell from the pics, but is there side compressions straps? Any way to suck in over the wings?

For the use case it was designed for, it looks great.

For some reason I thought this was going to be from a Challenge fabric; (at least) it looks like it is still Cordura. I've always liked the batwing approach like the Kifaru Fulcrum, Seek Outside Saker/Wingspan. The main bag looks to give better access.

Its looks like how I wanted the Ma Duece to be. I disliked how the side pockets were cinched down with the main pouch being cinched down. The S2H version looks like you can access the the side pockets without having to un-chinch the main bag. I like it

Looks quite well designed for it's purpose!

Like has been said, I like the streamlined nature of my K4 5000. But my later season experience has been Colorado, and day hunting rather than carrying camping gear. I do know that 5000 cu goes pretty quick with puffy gear and big optics. The ability to keep camp in the bag and puffy gear/optics, etc in the side bags would be slick.

I really want one of those lids with the bungee on top.......
