Posted in another forum. I am looking for a “do all” long range hunting rifle, planning on hunting deer, elk, maybe black bear… I want a rifle that I can shoot at 600+ on game and 1000+ on steel, is this a good option? I found a killer deal for a proof 300wsm proof prefit barrel so I had to jump on it, $440 for a origin prefit 24” 1:10… pretty sweet. It will be topped with an atacr 4-16 or a lrhs 3-12 and I have a manners pro hunter I plan on using

Good snag. Plenty for what you want. It can be done with a 6.5 so you have even more oomph. Loading long bullets can get tricky, but you don’t need highest BC.

Does the origin have a notched feedramp?

That should be a pretty awesome rig. The 300 WSM is a great cartridge for what you are doing. You’ll push the twist rate if you try shooting some of the heavy bullets. The 180 class is probably where I would start.

My wsm's push 200.20x and 215's fast enough to be very dangerous. I wouldn't feel handicapped, the 300wsm has held plenty of 1k yard records.
