There will always be differing opinions in a free country. I am concerned as well for the future, I recall an account of a Republican Senator being beaten within an inch of his life by a democratic representative over a slavery comment shortly before the civil war. I don't know how far out that is but the anger seems real on both sides.

I think that much of it is portrayed that way to keep us so divided. And social media has led to everyone having a strong opinion, even on things they dont understand or arent involved in. The more different groups of people in the US hate each other, the more power the government wins. The federal government already has more power that they should, tax us to death, and involve us in things all over the world we have no business in. These arent the things that the founders intended. If there is a tipping point, I hope it leads us back to the constitution which is the only thing I have ever pledged my life to. And the bottom line is, the constitution is only a piece of paper if we let it be.

When I saw the whitecoats at the state of the union address not applaud very much but go wild and dance when it was time to applaud themselves.....that said a lot. Trump set them up for that display very well and they ate it up like a hungry fish swallows a worm on a hook.

It seems to me that we r losing the common sense middle ground. I think that there has always been a silent majority who is right of center. More conservative than liberal but open to good ideas, not extreme liberal or conservative. Washington has become so polarized that there doesn’t seem to be many middle people left, and it kinda seems that the country is following this, people will denounce ideas or policies strictly based on PARTY ideas.

Career politicians to me r a huge issue as lately it seems that instead of making policy that is best for the country, they make policy that is best for keeping them in office. The flip side is if someone was in office making GOOD decisions but unpopular ones, well, they wouldn’t be there very long.

I surely don’t have all the answers and I think problems are way more complexe sometimes than they appear on the surface. Like the saying says, to every complexe problem there is solution that is clear, simple, and wrong.

I've seen this exact display at every SOTU that I've ever watched. The only difference is that the opposing party (either side) wasn't wearing a certain color. Nothing new or exclusive here.

Most of them are total trash and hate american principals. They really do make that obvious. At the same time you wont hear me praise trump like hes a god like many people do. Our country and economy seems is doing very well with him in office. But he talks out of both sides of his mouth like any other politician. For example tellingus the 8 year assault on thebsecond amendment was over but then tried to introduce a bump stock ban. Or at the state of the union, saying the US will never be a socialist coutry but also stating he was the 1st pres to introduce nationwide paid family leave. Thats a socialist idea.

Imo, it was different than the partisan displays which I agree are normal for that address. Never saw dems not clap for improved job #'s for minority groups and dance to celebrate themselves but maybe I missed that in previous addresses.

I like trump for his experience in the business world and how to he stood for America first........but I think it says a lot when the only two options when I step in to vote for the pres were Hilary and Trump. For me the decision was not hard but also not one I was smitten over either

First of all, if Trump had not stepped up Clinton would be POTUS right now.
Second of all Trump is playing chess and most folks are thinking/playing checkers.

One of my concerns is that when Democrats are in office, the deficit is most important. When rep are in, it’s never mentioned. I don’t think you can run a country in a perpetual 1 trillion dollar deficit for all that long, but who knows. I don’t see anyone on either side coming up with a solution until it’s too late and has to be drastic cuts.

I’m not a trump fan, better than the alternative, but I wish he had a better delivery.

I was just reloading the other day listening to the funniest excerpts of Reagan speeches on YouTube.

I like President Trump. He stands for America. He could be a little more polished, but that is who he is. We have career politicians that have lost sight of what this country is all about and how we came to be. I have a Biblical world view of what is going on and the things we are seeing now have been told that it will happen. I pray for the President and our country.

We really need a political forum. Let's call it leg humpers corner. In my opinion these aren't conversation threads they are for people to meet up with like minded others and pat each other on the back for being so much smarter than everyone else. Carry on you smart SOB's

This makes perfect sense, unless they disagree...

I never found being smart to be a bad thing.

We're one election away from socialism and one election away from a POTUS using executive powers to outlaw cars and trucks over 12 years old due to emissions. Or outlawing wood stoves for the same reason.
Or declaring a moratorium on semi-auto handguns.

We had better wake the hell up, stay vigilant or it's over. It can happen quickly.
