I think it depends on the scope line that they repair and return. They repaired a viper series i sent them. Dropped it back in the scope mount and everything was still zero zero with no adjustment necessary

Thoughts on Burris Fullfield 4 - 16 x 50 with E3tm reticle?
I am considering the Trijicon Huron, but it is a little over budget.

I don't have a Vortex riflescope. I think their Customer Service may just have limited selections for cause. The customer service person had to pick a category. The reality is that they probably don't know what really caused the failure.

As far as everyone needing their customer service goes. I believe some products are not compatible with some people. They don't design them for every use case. The key is find something that works for you.

I'm apparently the ideal Leupold riflescope customer since mine never fail. I have no reason to go for something different.

Just get a swfa 3-9 or 3-15 and call it a day, should be able to find either in the classifieds

I had a pair of vortex viper binos and dropped them and the eye cup stripped out. So I had them warrantied and upgraded to razors while I was at it. Apparently having a warranty makes them junk.

Well I have bought 3 products from them and all have been replaced.
So can people suggest a replacement scope that offers like reticles? My budget would need to be $800.00 or less.

Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40 or 2.5-10x56 with mil-dot.

Buy a lrhsi from GAP rifles and thank me later.

Looks like both are currently in stock too if you can’t find one in the classifieds, and the MQ reticle is much more precise than any BDC reticles if you don’t care to dial

Honestly, I’ve had some vortex scopes that have served me well. I have sold most of them off for Nightforce and Mavens though. None of them have been in the $250 range.

It’s hard to look the other way with the scope tests here on RS. Hence the sell off for me. One thing I have never done was expect much out of an optic that costs $250…from any brand.

I have tried a handful of cheap scopes - a Viper and a Fulfield and a Huron and a Diamondback.

The Viper was purchased back when Vortex was USA made. 2-7x36. Love that scope. Got it for $189 closeout wish i bought 2. This would be $600+ scope in todays world.

The Huron ($350) is good for 30 minutes before/after sunrise/sunset. Does show some glare looking into sunset. Trying to figure that out. Only used it a couple times so far. Im setting up a 243 as a camp gun and look to the west when hunting. Shot a buck at first legal shooting time - was looking at him in predawn dark for 5 minutes or so before shot. Think Leupold VX3 glass is softer on the eyes and “better” but last VX3 wouldnt hold zero between range trips.

Bottom line is if you buy a cheap scope, it is cheap for a reason. You are sacrificing something.

Fall on it with a full pack and it wont work afterwards - i’d be wondering about a $1,000 Scope doing the same. Scopes are tubes with lenses - falling on them isnt really in their job description.

Swfa, used Bushnell elite tactical. Learn a mil reticle. It will change your life. Read the drop test threads in the long range hunting forum. They changed the way I look at scope buying.

Until it's needs warranty. Read a thread that GAP says the warranty is through Bushnell, but Bushnell doesn't actually carry the GAP scope as a stock item, so they replace it with something else.

Coming from a guy who has broken more scopes than most truckloads of guys combined.....I would still buy it.

I have a bunch of them and they get the hell beat out of them and the just keep working.

It's like anything else.. they work until they don't. And don't worry about it until that happens.

I was looking at a Vortex but after reading this and other threads, I will stick with Burris along with the Burris Signature Rings than use the carbon inserts. Never had any issues with any of them even their original Fullfield that had a posi-lock system that they no longer offer.
Looking at maybe a Burris Fullfield 3-12 x 42 for a friends Muzleloader. with the Signature Rings.

Diamondback is a 15 minute scope after sunset or before sunrise. Basically crap for low light. Yes i have on on a ML. Good otherwise.

I have many crossfires and a couple diamondbacks. All are decent scopes, but I don’t run my rifles over with a tank or throw them off mountains. Actually just put a diamondback on my ML a couple weeks ago.
