To be fair, oil may not have been the exact culprit and it could have been some typical gun cleaning solvent. Or even a bad batch of loctite. But twice I’ve seen 242 get weird on me, assumed it was oil. Never an issue with 243.

That's interesting. Some thread locker can separate into thicker and thinner liquids. And it can be hard to get it mixed back together.

Even when watery, 242 seems to set well but I have never performed any formal sort of test. I've only seen the separation at home and not in the test lab or shop environment because it gets used up so quickly.

I get to visit a lot of manufacturing sites now and one of the first things checked is expired thread locker. Maybe that was a contributing factor.
