Picked up the xop sit and climb last year. Love how compact and light it is (I did remove the sit bar to use more like a hand climber) although it’s nice it feels extremely sketchy to climb with, I’ve had numerous close calls of it slipping and coming from years of using a summit viper this is surprising me. I can go right up 20 feet with a summit in a minute and never not feel safe. Has anyone modified these to work better? Maybe a different band or sharpening the teeth?

I haven’t modded one but last year I was looking for a sit and climb but ran across a deal on a hand climber and I had planned to make a sit strap out of a piece of tubular webbing. It was sold before I could get it so I never got to test it out

On my XOP I had issues with the toothed band catching on rough tree bark. Drove me nuts

So I took a short length of black irritation tubing and slipped it over the band.

Worked like a charm. Now the band just skips over the rough bark and still works as it should
