I got this on a trade a few years ago. It is pretty crudely made, but seems to be functional. What upgrades should I do to it? I'm new to sewing so nothing too crazy. I was thinking about adding some guy out points, but don't know where to put them. Any thoughts?

Look at the Kifaru tut for inspiration and add some guy out midway up on each panel. I'd also look up Luke Moffat's post explaining the line locks and tie outs along the bottom.

Happy hunting

Add 18 inches of vertical to the bottom.

Because that's what I want to build myself and it'd be awesome if you did the R&D for me :)

im thinking the same thing. cut some carbon arrows and use them at the corners for wall "poles". will give you tons more usable space inside

Like... sew on a strip that is 18 inches high to the bottom? Use the carbon arrows to angle the walls out?

If you do that poles shouldn't be necessary and you'd just use your existing tie downs as your guy outs. A setup like this, while giving more usable space, will be more susceptible to wind damage.

On the seek outside courthouse they use a exterior triangle guyout point to get the pull to be more in the center of the panel

i sewed a 12 inch skirt to the bottom of a shelter like that. it is useful to seal the bottom and get an extra couple inches of head room.

18 in would be better.

That's the question I'm working on and what's stopping me from proceeding on this. At which height do you lose too much stability..... I keep going back and forth between 18" and 24".
