I picked up the 16x48 spotter and vortex carbon summit tripod from optics planet for $1,000. This was back in september. I negotiated a little bit with them.

Wilderness areas are a good bet, just be prepared to deal with meat in hot weather. If you want to get a general season B tag that is good for archery and rifle you need to
Make the purchase early, like in July. There is a limited number of tags and anymore they sell out before the season...
Bag is plenty long enough, but I can barely get it zipped around my shoulders. The bag is certainly well made, and pretty light considering its size and temp rating.

I am six foot and 300 pounds. I have the zero degree long wide side zip slick bag from kifaru. It is very difficult for me to close the zipper fully. I am looking at maybe doing the quilt thing. Center zip might be easier to use for a bug guy.

Anybody else taking advantage of the sales going on now for the razor scopes? I just picked up a 16-48 x 65 from optics planet for $775.

I see Cabelas has a sale on the older diamondback binoculars. A guy can get a set of 12x50 for around $145. Wondering how they compare to other entry level glass. Anybody have experience with these?

Kowa tech claims their scopes are made entirely in japan. Leuoold claims everything but the glass in their gold ring products is domestic, glass comes from Philippines or Germany. I don't know.
Called vortex customer support with some questions, including country of origin. I don't think I can bring myself to spend that kind of money on something made in China. I am taking a close look at the Kowa scope, those seem like a good scope for the money, and not made in China.
