Looking into Wyoming a bit and trying to figure this point stuff out. I have no points and I know I missed out on buying a point but I might apply still and try and get a point that way. I'm looking at unit 21, it seems it gets alot of pressure but when I do get a bull tag I would be there for...
Looks like camping it is! Do you know of any places that do trail rides in the big belts? Might be a good way to get a lay of the land and maybe a few tips from the guides on elk movement in the area! Im pumped as this will be my first archery elk hunt, looking forward to hearing some bugling...
Might do big belts as first choice now for an archery hunt, hoping to take a family trip out this summer, any advice on things to see around Bozeman or white sulphur springs?
Planning my first trip to Montana for either archery or rifle elk, still undecided maybe both! Looking at some ares around Dillon and i was wondering if any of you have any experience in this area, like unit 325. Wondering how busy it gets during hunting season and also how the elk and deer...
I've found some decent looking spots in the northern bridgers and down in unit 560. Unit 560 looks easier to get away from people as its so big but how bad are the grizzlies if we camp out there? Anyone have any pictures of these areas they would care to share or you could pm me. Also looking...
Thanks for the info guys, keep it coming. I got a few areas to dig deeper now and looks like I need to study the landowner maps as well. Jon Boy I tried to message you but your inbox is full.
So I have come up with a few areas to do some more research on. The crazies, the bridgers, keep looking around the little belt area and possibly down around unit 560 but i think that's a draw maybe. How difficult is it getting around the private land?
So by the sounds of it montana would be a better hunt than idaho. If I get a general area tag maybe I could just jump around a bit. But it does sound like montana gets alot of pressure, I didn't think it was hunted that heavily since tags are expensive. Any of the wilderness area any good or...
I have been planning an elk trip for this sept archery. Settled on idaho as I did not want to go back to colorado and wyoming without any preference points would likely not happen. Had thought of montana but figured with an 800 dollar tag I would stick to idaho. Well coming from wisconsin...
Thanks for the info on 36a. We plan on hunting 49 but trying to gather info on 36a as a backup. I will be out the end of sept as well. Are the elk pretty vocal in that area? Also how about other people in the area like hunters hikers and bikers?
I was wondering if any of you have any experience with idaho unit 36a? Heading out for an archery elk hunt this sept and was going to unit 49 but unit 36a looks like a pretty good unit as well. So if anyone has any experience out there I would love to hear some stories about it.
This year the plan is to hit idaho otc area. Also being from wisconsin myself, I have hunted colorado but want to try something different. Gonna plan on applying for points in wy but have to figure out where I want to hunt there. I like idaho otc as there isn't the pressure as some of co has...
