Hey good morning everyone

Got myself a new 7prc with a 20in barrel. Wanted to see the recommendations on powder choices. I’m thinking 175 Berger or the Berger 180.
I see h1000 is popular.
Thanks in advance.

I’m sending 180eldms at 2915 with h1000 out of my 20” proof, n570 is a little bit faster. I tried magpro, staball hd and a handful of others but they were all on the slow side.

I've got a 22" barrel on order, and one of my concerns with using H1000 is complete burn. I use Mac OS so I can't run GRT to try to get a feel for "complete burn". With the 20" barrel, are you seeing any signs of incomplete burn? How are the groups? Thanks!

N570 has been doing great in my 18” with 180 hybrids. It’s a very full case but no signs of overpressure.

Wow that seems like it’s cooking with a 180 and h1000. What brass are you using and are you seeing any signs of excessive pressure?
ADG, it’s running pretty hot so I’m not holding my breathe at long brass life. I’m right at the ragged edge of ejector marks but usually don’t see any pressure signs. I let it go 200 rounds without cleaning and it sped up to 2965 and had tons of pressure issues.

I’m shooting 175g Berger EH’s with H1000. 20” barrel. 68.5 grains got me to 2875 with ADG brass and 215 primers. 210 primers were 50fps slower. RL26 wasn’t any better velocity or grouping wise and since you can’t get 26 I figured I’d stick with the H1000. I ran up to 69.5 but groups opened up. Bottom left group 68.5, middle group 69.5.

I'm working up a load for my 180gr ELDMs with H1000 and Retumbo.
Have you found much difference between the two in velocity? In my 22" 300prc the velocities are within 10fps of each other so far. Only have 30rds down the barrel though.

I’ve been curious about H1000 in shorter barrels. Any signs of unburnt powder? How is the SD/ES?

I'd have to look at my records but 68.5 gets me ES in the teens and single digit SDs. No signs of unburnt powder that I tell given the sd/es and grouping consistency.

Thanks! I’ve got an 8lb jug of N560 to put in some Peterson brass, when the rifle shows up this week. If the N560 doesn’t pan out, H1000 and then 4831SC will be my next choice.

The new Staball HD variety looks pretty good for the 7mm PRC in Hodgdon's data, and is fairly available online, that's going to be my first powder to try when I get my 7mm PRC.

Yeah I thought long and hard about StaBall HD too. Just haven’t had much luck with the few ball powders I’ve tried, unless case fill is maxed out. Maybe the StaBall HD is better, and to be fair my experience with the broad spectrum of ball powders is limited
