I am also looking for some advice for reloading .30-.06 I have both imp 4350 and 4064. The only primers that I have are federal 215M's. I am going to be loading Hornaday ELD-X 178g. I am hopping to get some input on using the 215M primers and powder charge.
Thank you.

Heavier bullets would be best served with IMR4350, IMO. A more full case all else equal has the potential for more consistent results. But try them both and see what you get. No issues with the 215M primers, and check a few reloading sources for starting charge weights.

Both of those powders are great for the 30/06. Both will work just fine for 150 grain bullets up to 180 grain. 4350 can provide slightly more velocity, but will take several grains more powder to get you there. All the data you're going to see will be with standard primers. Doesn't mean you can't use your 215 primers, just don't start out with a max charge of powder.

Hodgdon will have data for those powders. That's where I would look first:

My load for years out of a pre64 Model 70 with a 24 inch barrel was 57 grains of H4350 with a 180 grain partition or accubond bullet and lake city match brass. It chronographs at 2860 fps.

For a 21” barrel I’d consider a medium-fast burning powder. I use H4350 in short barreled Tikka 30-06 and get 2,570 fps with 180 gr Swift Scirocco II. For reference, my barrel is cut to… Crap, can’t remember if it’s 18” or 20”.

Buy the best brass you can afford. Lapua is $$$ but worth it.

Thank you.

Staball is available now, if you aren't adverse to switching you'll see good results from it. I have 168ttsx at 2995 with great accuracy and easypeasy metering. It might be more temp stable than the imr4350 too

Picked up 2lbs of StaBall a few weeks ago. Looking very much forward to some loading in my .270 Win and '06. It is the velocity champ for both with most all bullet weights in the Hodgdon data.

For the 30-06, it's not really close in velocity potential with 180 gr bullets (closest to your 178 ELD-X). StaBall has a 100 fps and a 150 fps advantage over IMR4350 and IMR4064 respectively.
