hey guys i am going to colorado for a mule deer hunt this year and we will be backpacking pretty deep. i was wondering if i am allowed to carry either a .22 or an air rifle with me into the back country to hunt small game if the opportunity is there. i know if ohio you are not allowed to carry two hunting implements but i don't know the rule in colorado. if i am not i will just bring my slingshot lol

thanks in advance

I carried a Chiappa Lil Badger .22lr with me on my 2020 archery elk hunt and killed several blue grouse with it. WO the Red Dot it weighed under 3lbs and easily fit in my pack with all of my other gear. A Browning buck mark .22 pistol is just under 2lbs and probably just as accurate.

I'm debating whether to bring my ruger pistol along to ID this year. Had a ton of grouse around last year. Not exactly light weight with a red dot and a suppressor but a handful of grouse would probably be worth the few extra pounds.

you think sub sonics would be quiet enough so you could not use the suppressor?

I run subs out of it anyways but one of my rimfire cans weighs sub 3 ounces so the weight there is worth the suppression. You can barely hear it go off from 50' away.

Huntertown B-22. I'm not even sure they are even in business anymore but I got if for free, too good of a deal to pass up.

As for ammo choices, out of a pistol most 22 ammo that I have tried doesn't get supersonic unless you are getting high speed stuff. Stick with 40+ grain bullets and you should be good to go.

I like the buck mark. I carry when packing in fly fishing and sometimes fly fishing. Grouse is a nice break from freeze dried foods
