Now they're targeting the actual transaction process. At a minimum they are hoping to inconvenience people enough to disuade them from buying.

How do you think this inconvenience would happen? As someone who worked in the banking industry and had to deal with this type of monitoring on a frequent basis, I strongly believe you don't begin to understand how this works. Your financial transactions are already being scrutinized to ensure that you are not funding terrorism or laundering money. How many calls have you personally received from your bank inquiring about details supporting your financial transactions?

I had clients that processed hundreds of thousands if not millions of transactions a month and rarely did we have to deal with suspicious activity inquiries which is what comes from this sort of thing.

The creation of a new MCC code will not result in more scrutiny of financial transactions than currently exists under the BSA or US Patriot Act.

Why hasn't Biden taken credit for this, or his administration even expressed support for it, if you believe like the poster I responded to that the Biden administration requested that a bank submit the application to ISO on its behalf?

I think the whole thing is old news. The government is watching everything we do. Everey text message, phone call, internet search and financial transaction. Don't forget Alexa and Siri. They are always listening. With computer technology and AI they can literally listen to every phone conversation. I'm sure they aren't though. That would violate our rights.
