Doing a Caribou hunt in AK next month and trying to figure out the best way to get meat home. I've seen the other posts about Alaska Air Cargo and I'm signed up but I'm not sure they're going to do the verification in time (and it's $130).

Got a first class upgrade on my flight home from Fairbanks, so I can check 2 bags for 70lbs for free...

BUT - Delta's website says they have a $150 fee for "Perishable Goods", and it explicitly calls out "game meat." I read this to mean that if I load up a 50lb fish box it will cost me $150.

Has anyone ever been charged that fee when flying out of Alaska on Delta?

I'm considering bringing my own cooler in hopes they would let that slide, but coolers are heavy and mine is right at the 62" oversize limit (which is an extra $200 fee)

When I flew Caribou back from AK last year they charged me $100 per cooler as long as it was under 100lbs.
