I've never seen anything but a shoulder mount for a velvet antlered deer. Anyone ever seen something different like a European mount or a skull cap on a board? If so did it look funny? Just curious if shoulder mount is the only option out there

I just did a google image search for velvet European mounts. Check it out quite a few good ones!

Something to keep in mind for a velvet Euro...

More often than not, the antlers have to be cut off to preserve the velvet, so you're looking at detachable antlers. In my world, that's a $650 invoice. $300 shy of a full shoulder mount.

However, that being said, it might be different on smaller antlered game. It's not feasible for me to stuff a big caribou, elk or moose in a freezer.

Another option for the L48 crowd is artificial velvet. It's basically a spray on application, prices of service will vary depending on the company doing the work.

I have a euro mount velvet buck. Antlers are fixed.

Velvet tan in the field, frozen for sometime, then had the skull carefully boiled out and cleaned. Turned out just fine.
