Less Physical Hunt ??

Been to Kodiak three times in the "spring", once in Feb, and twice in March from a Boat ...... Hiking up to get to Billy's through all that snow is almost worse than the brush in the fall. Fun hunt either way.


Yes sir, been there done that. When that snow is up past your crotch, it makes for some tough going, especially when the days are short (November, December, January). Fun though, in a weird torturous way (lol).

In my experience and as previously mentioned here, a late season boat based Southeast Alaska hunt can often be the easiest physically. Granted, it will be cold and sitting in a skiff all day in the rain is not exactly peaches and cream, but as the goats are in the rut, often the billies follow the nannies low enough that shots from the beach are pretty common.
