Hi, I'm looking to move to Idaho sometime this year and had a few questions that maybe some of you could help me out with if you're willing.
A little background:
I'm currently residing in the UNconstitution state of Connecticut, and basically have been fed up with all of the nonsense and b.s. that keeps coming down the pipe over here. So while I'm still young (24) and still have the opportunity, I've been looking/researching other states to move to over the last year or so which is how I can across this site. I've done literally hundreds of hours of research trying to decide where to go on the map and I've narrowed it down to Idaho as I feel it suits what I'm looking for the best. My girlfriend and I are going on vacation over memorial day week to go over there and check everything out before we make the commitment, and currently are looking to go to the Idaho Falls area, with the Lewiston area as a second (backup) choice. I have some questions about the Idaho Falls area that maybe some of you could help me out with.
1. I'm currently a machinist for a living, and my girlfriend works in the medical field. Is it feasible to find work in or around the ID Falls area in those fields of work? If not in ID Falls itself, then any surrounding area recommendations?
2. My passion is hunting (mostly bow) and fishing, it sounds like ID Falls is surrounded by a good quality of both. That being said, I would really like to live within a half an hour or so of some public hunting grounds/mountains, but I obviously also need to live close enough to wherever employment (businesses) may be. Is ID Falls itself close enough to hunting to accommodate both, or is there a surrounding town that may be a better fit? I currently drive an hour to work as it is so I'm not afraid to drive, but if I have a choice I would rather not if I can live close enough to both.
3. Lastly, how is the yearly weather in the area? As a New Englander, we get a little bit of everything from snow/sleet/ice, to hot and humid summers, and everything in between, so I'm not to worried about whatever the weather might be, but just curious.
Any help/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks a lot guys.
