Red dot on muzzleloader?

Just curious if anyone has used a red dot on a muzzleloader? I'm just debating if I should give it a try, or stick with open sights since only 1X scopes are allowed.

I had a red dot on a 30-30 and another rifle. Works fine. Can keep it in a 4 inch circle at 100 yards. With a regular scope can do about 1/2 that.

Swapped out a Sig Romeo 5 for a Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.5. Like the crosshairs better than the dot these days. getting old.
