Custom M70 300 WM. Hunting to 500 or so max but want to do targets much longer. 9.5 # w/ Talley LW and VX3 2-10 now and need something better. 10 shot 1 minute rifle with factory ammo and working on loads now.

Scope durability, rifle weight and scope height are concerns. Any problems with big turrets fitting into a scabbard. 60+ eyes so glass needs to be reasonable.

Not a lot of dialing but would like option. Thinking I need a rail and FFP scope. SS 3-9, Bushnell lrts 3-12 44 are two options under consideration but not limited to that price point. Anyone own both and how do they compare as far as easy to get behind and reticle.

Suggestions appreciated.

Just used my SS 3-9 to put 4 rounds into my first bull at 423 yards. Did not feel hindered by 9x at that distance and it dialed perfectly. I am a huge believer in them now. 19 oz and tough. Never once had a dial turn inadvertently either, I religiously checked while walking around and I dragged it through a lot of thick, thick brush.

We took SS 3-9 out to 600 yesterday. Great scope, very trim, very clear.

I wish it didn't have the windage knob, but really like it.
