Thoughts on red/green hat lights

Iv heard a lot that deer can’t see red and green hat lights. Just wondering if anybody’s experienced any truth to that? Does having a red or green hat like make a difference compared to regular lights?

You’ll probably get a lot of different answers, but I firmly believe in the green light. I’ve walked within 20 yds of bedded deer without spooking them or having them blow. If looking at them too long, they eventually get nervous and run off

i have use red a lot but i have also walked behind deer with a white light. i have walked past bedded deer with a white light too.

I've walked up on critters with a white light.

The trick is to use a low setting and not be waving your beam all over the place.

Try watching a guy walk up a dirt road from about 500 yds away in the dark. If the light is focused on the ground, you will have trouble seeing him.

if you want to scare them point the light at your face or body.
