Waterproof Zipper Replacement

I have a rain jacket that has the waterproof zipper but it bound up and I accidentally ripped the zipper off. Id like to replace it with a ykk waterproof zipper. Anyone ever replace one of these zippers? If so, any tips? I may just take it to a sewing shop.
